Current Position:
Dr. Herrmann is Senior Psychiatrist and Principal at PSSC serving both the adults and youth of our community.
Past Experience:
Dr. Herrmann has been practicing in Madison for over 30 years. He is the former Medical Director of Youth Services at the Mental Health Center of Dane County; a former Assistant Clinical Professor at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin; former Director of Research, former Managing Partner at Regent Mental Health Group.
He has authored and co-authored publications on Bipolar Disorder and Attention Deficit Disorder and Restless Legs Syndrome. He has been a member of the Board of Directors and is former Vice President of National Alliance for Mental Illness of Wisconsin and former member of the Child and Adolescent Subcommittee of the Governor’s Committee on Mental Health.
Practice Approach:
Patient/Family/Solution focused. Non-judgmental, collaborative team approach to goal setting and decision making where options are presented including risks and potential benefits.
Education and Certifications:
Undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science degree. Medical School attended at the Chicago Medical School with the degree of Medical Doctor Awarded. Internship, Residency in General Psychiatry and Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry were completed at the University of Iowa. He is Board Certified and a longstanding member of American Psychiatric Association, Wisconsin Psychiatric Association, American Medical Association, Wisconsin Medical Society, American Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and National Alliance on Mental Illness.
